Waxahatcie, TX was the site of the former super-collider project headed up by the U.S. Department of Energy. When federal funding was withdrawn, the 200,000 square foot facility became available. Whittaker Associates worked with the owner and his agent to identify prospects for this property. Due to the nature of the facility, it was determined that the best re-use for the building would be for data center or colocation services. We then provided our client with a database of 175 firms requiring those capabilities.
Whittaker Associates was asked by an Atlanta-based real estate brokerage firm to assist them in marketing three facilities. The first was a 217,000 sq. ft. former electronic distribution facility with 60,000 sq. ft. of office space on two levels. Based on the characteristics of the property, target audiences included the Federal Emergency Disaster Recovery agency, a film studio, data centers, and a school supply depot. The second assignment was a 415,000 sq. ft. older distribution facility close to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. A number of potential uses were identified, including records storage, lost luggage depot, and recycling center. The third property consisted of a 220,000 sq. ft. rail facility formerly used to distribute appliances. By examining the rail-based manufacturing companies along the rail line, we identified a target list of potential distributors.
A third party logistics service supplier asked Whittaker Associates to work with them to develop a target company profile and identify the companies that fit this profile. During this process, they were confronted with an unexpected bankruptcy of one of their major clients, leaving them with an unoccupied warehouse facility. Whittaker Associates assisted our client by providing a database of several hundred companies within two metro areas likely to have both a need for warehouse space and third party logistics services.
Whittaker Associates was contracted by an economic development agency located in Southeast Florida to provide targeted lists of companies with events precipitating an impending need to locate in their area. After a collaborative effort to create a target company profile, we provided our client with a database of 150 companies in the medical device and supplies industry, as well as firms offering back-office services. Currently, they are in the process of following up on these leads and have already identified several suspect companies.
