If you ever want to feel like you’re on another planet without leaving Earth, visit Badlands National Park. Nestled in southwestern South Dakota, its sprawling prairies, geologic formations, and wildlife are a sight to behold. While visiting the park, you’ll most likely see prairie dogs, bison, and bighorn sheep. If you’re lucky, you may see the endangered black-footed ferret or whooping crane. As you explore the trails and walkways through the Badlands, you can read about the area’s rich history, tribes that inhabited the land, the fossils found, and the buttes and pinnacles formed through erosion. It is a gem that can be a learning experience for people of all ages. Make sure to stop at Wall Drug on your way out of the park for some touristy fun! Here are a few of my photos from my visit.
