Last month, I wrote about my trip to Badlands National Park. As a continuation of what I’ll call my “National Park Series,”, I want to share some highlights from my time in Zion National Park. Located in southwestern Utah, Zion is one of many national parks within the state. Fed by the Virgin River, there is lush greenery throughout the park, contrasting with the huge sandstone plateaus in stunning shades of white and red that shine against the bluest of skies and descend into the deep slot canyons. I had three days to explore as much as I could, but with temperatures over 100 degrees, I had to cram most of it into the morning hours. Thankfully, the park has an efficient (and free) shuttle system to drop off and pick up visitors at nine points within the park. Zion is a wonderful destination for hikers of all abilities, scenic drives (Zion-Mt Carmel Highway), wildlife viewing (specifically for birdwatching), stargazing, and biking. Enjoy my photos from my September visit!
